Artist Adam Bridgland

Adam
Bridgland

Adam Bridgland is one of the most distinctive artists working in Britain today. His work is thoughtful, deeply observant, and rooted in a way of seeing that invites people to slow down and pay closer attention to the world around them.

Across two intimate afternoon sessions woven into the retreat, Adam offers rare access to his practice — guiding guests with generosity, care, and an ease that makes creativity feel natural and unforced.

These sessions are calm, spacious, and intentionally unpressured — allowing ideas to surface in their own time.

No artistic experience needed. This is an opportunity to be guided by someone exceptional, in a small group, within a landscape that encourages presence and curiosity. For many, these sessions will be the quiet highlight of the retreat.

ARC
Thorpeness

ARC Thorpeness is spread across five floors, each offering a different place to pause, gather, or drift away with a book. From cosy corners to expansive social rooms with far-reaching views, there’s always somewhere to chat, read, stretch, or simply watch the changing light over the coast.

At the top of the house, the panoramic living space opens out to wide Suffolk skies and sea views. Whether you’re sharing stories around the table, enjoying a slow moment alone, or padding about in slippers with a coffee in hand — this is a house that feels both generous and grounding.

From the moment you step outside, the coast is yours. Walk straight from the house along expansive shoreline paths, past shingle beaches, dunes, and wide Suffolk skies.

Private chef.
Every meal.

All meals are cooked with care by our brilliant in-house chef, using fresh, seasonal ingredients inspired by the Suffolk coast and countryside.

Expect generous breakfasts, relaxed post-walk spreads, and dinners that feel indulgent yet unfussy — paired with well-chosen wines and zero washing up.
